PART THREE

Sho drove, heading toward the usual road to their favourite yakiniku vendor. Knowing Aiba for the last nine years made him notices(or memorise) Aiba habits and somehow some of Aiba’s habit had been contagious to him as now they share the same favourite food place and place to hang out with just the two of them.

To be ignored by Aiba made Sho realised that he doesn’t really completely understand his best friend. He still doesn’t know what the reason of Aiba’s to be angry at him. He sighed when he thinks that he still lacking of experiences on how to handle the other side of Aiba’s and he couldn’t help but to feel envy toward Nino for being able to see and handle Aiba’s well compared to him even though the past year Aiba had been hanging out a lot with him.

How he and Aiba become best friends is still a mystery yet to be solved. He and Aiba don’t even have a thing in common and the way the two of them acted also explained it clearly without words. He is the moody type of a person while Aiba, he is the mood lifter kind of personality. Before this he does feel a bit annoyance rouse inside of him to see Aiba’s genkiness. It is because it looks so easy for Aiba to be happy without trying hard, which is something, that he couldn’t do till now. Aiba can be categorised as the type that doesn’t think about the problem or avoided it but he faces it bravely with his smile plastered on his face. With that purpose alone, Sho knew he couldn’t save himself to be victim of Aiba’s deceased of happiness. When he started to get to know the guy better, Sho knew instantly that Aiba can be his source of his smile. At the moment, he can fully understand why Nino been so loyal to Aiba, while Jun having a big of soft spot toward Aiba and Ohno is Ohno when ever he is with Aiba.

Aiba is the group source of happiness. The four of them need him to make them happy and smile throughout the day, therefore they will always be scared when ever Aiba is sick or being over work. And they also couldn’t bear to see sad and happiness façade of Aiba.

Therefore this whole week, Sho knew that he misses his bond with Aiba. He hasn’t been smiling for a week and he can feel that his energy had been drained because of his happiness façade he tried to pull of in front of the public. So Sho knew that he couldn’t face another week of not talking and he decided he needs to seek Aiba’s forgiveness and he is afraid of Aiba will also might be sick if he kept pushing himself trying to be someone that wasn’t him in natural nature.

Sho drove along the parking lot searching a familiar car in it, and when he saw it, he parked beside the black car. He gets out from the car feeling nervous. His hands already sweaty as rubbed it on his jeans.  He looked at the usual vendor and saw a familiar sitting figure. Sho sighed with content as he made his way to the figure.

“I wonder what I should say to him.”

Sho’s thought was full of scripts of apologises for Aiba but nothing from the script seem to be the right sentence to say.

By the time he came close toward Aiba, he realised Aiba was staring at his food, untouched.

Sho felt a pang of guilt hit him hard on the chest. He hated to see Aiba being so dejected and soulless.

Sho pulled a chair beside Aiba and sat quietly as Aiba doesn’t seem to notice his presence.

“You know you won’t fry the meat just by staring at it” Sho began.

Aiba turned to his side abruptly, acknowledging Sho’s presence. Sho stares back at Aiba expressionless face and his cold stares.

“I hurt him deep!” that was Sho first thought when he saw those cold stares that were piercing his eye shield contact.

“We need to talk” Sho said, straightforwardly.

“What about?” Aiba asked icidly.

“About what happened last week?”

“What about last week?”

“C’mon Aiba, I know something that I said during our last conversation had hurt you deeply and I…and I...”

“And you are what?”

“I’m sorry…” Sho said, fixing his eyes on Aiba’s sudden soft brown eyes and he continued “I’m sorry for what I said before and whatever I said, I really, really don’t mean it at all. I’m sorry for hurting you badly Aiba-chan! I don’t want the serious Aiba, I want my bakawaii best friend back, and I want that Aiba that I know for these nine years, the one who can make me smile 24/7 whenever he was around me…”

Aiba sat motionless for a while and said nothing. Then he returned his gaze back from Sho toward the meat in front of him.

Sho face’s fell. He could feel his tears starting to threaten to fall but he fights it with all his might. He couldn’t help but to think he doesn’t deserved Aiba’s forgiveness even after his apologise and confession.

Sho was about to stand up when Aiba suddenly said “I somehow happened to order the yakiniku for two people serving…”

Sho lips suddenly curled to form a small smile before it spread to make a sheepish grin as he sat back.

“You have been expecting me do you?” Sho said as he pulled out a chopstick from the wrapper and took the now cook meat to put it on Aiba’s plate.

“Sho…” Aiba said, turning to his side so he can face Sho, face to face.

“What is it Aiba?”

“Don’t ever say what you said last time ever again in the future… because I can’t promise you, I will forgive you again by that time. All I ever care now is to have an honest friendship with you and I can’t act or to be someone apart from my baka self. Therefore if you are feeling embarrassed, just admitted it to me and I will leave you alone…”

A single tear started to drop on Sho’s cheek. He was taken aback from what Aiba said earlier but he still continues to gaze Aiba’s eyes.

“I…I couldn’t bear to lose you as my best friend! I need you and I won’t trade our friendship for anything in the world! Our friendship is a precious for me! And you are a precious friend of mine too! And I will not let our friendship wash into the drain just like that! I won’t allow it!!”

There was silence between the two of them after Sho’s statement. Sho looked at Aiba with his serious face features with determination while Aiba looked at Sho, at first being expressionless but later it changes as Sho could started to see his face is glimmered with happiness as Aiba started to smile at him for the forst time after a week of not talking.

Suddenly Sho feel an arm wrapped around him as Aiba made his way to hug him tight.

“And I wont let our friendship goes to the drain too, Sho-chan!” He said, muffling as he was crying by the time his head find his way to Sho’s neck.

“Thank you Aiba-chan… and again I’m sorry…” Sho said as he hugged Aiba back.

“Lets hope this wont happen again ne” Aiba said happily as he let go of Sho and continue “Cause being mad at you wasn’t a fun thing to do and it made me tired all the time”

Aiba gave Sho a sheepish grin after he finished his sentence and went for his chopstick, grabbed some meat and put on Sho’s plate.

Sho laughed as he watched Aiba started to eat his meat, happily.

“I promise you Aiba, I won’t let it happen again…”
