CHAPTER 3
“It was great Dad!” Masaki exclaimed as he was having dinner with his dad and Mizukawa-san. He lived with his father and his twin. His mother died when giving birth, so he never knew his mother. His father is an attorney, he is also is a workaholic, means its really hard for them to have the family quality time together and Mr.Aiba also never shows of liking a woman ever even when Masaki and his sister gave him the green light of doing so. Therefore since Masaki’s mother died, they had been taking care by their godmother, Mizukawa-san. Mizukawa-san is not old. She was in the same age as Mr. Aiba and she was also Mr. Aiba best friend after Mrs. Aiba passed away. Mizukawa-san also lost her husband as he died because of cancer few years ago. Mizukawa-san is a beautiful woman. Sometimes Masaki wish his dad will like her and then get married, but since it was a wish that cannot be granted, both Masaki and his twin already made her as their godmother willingly.
“Yeah, I heard you guys were leading a few points,” Mr. Aiba said. He knew the story from Mizukawa-san when he helped her making dinner.
“We won the game by four ball,” Masaki said “The new guy in school, Sho, he really awesome!”
Mizukawa-san looked at Mr. Aiba. Masaki never said anything to flatter a person.
“Guess Sho is really good since it came from you mouth,” Mizukawa-san said, raising an eyebrow.
“He is damn good. He sure knows….”
He stopped when he heard the front door opened and saw his sister walked in.
“Masami, you are late!” Mr. Aiba said.
Masami walked straight to the kitchen.
“What are you doing here dad?” Masami asked.
“This is my home too, ya know,” Mr. Aiba replied.
Masami laughed. “I thought you already move out to the office,” she teased as she sits down next to Masaki.
Masaki laughed. “And she scores the three points!” He said to Mr. Aiba.
Mr. Aiba laughed and shook his head.
“So how’s your day at school? Did you won a basketball game too?” he asked to Masami.
Masami shook her head.
“Naah…nothing happened. Just usual stuff,” Masami answered as she puts some spaghetti on her plates and went over the table for the sauce.
“You need to get a life!” Masami teased. “I don’t really see you even participate in any of school stuff except hanging out at the library….”
“And that’s when I realized the school do have a library,” he added.
Masami glared at her brother.
Masaki and Masami is twin. Even they was twin, they have nothing in common. Masaki, he loves to goof around and think everything as joke but Masami acts otherwise. The only resemblance they have were the big round brown eyes, their mother’s eyes as their father used to said, the brown hair, the exactly same height, right-handed and the same family name.
“And you should stay away from me. Stop following me and get a girlfriend!” Masami fretted.
Masaki is the school basketball star player with the addition fact he is also good looking. He is one of the famous jocks in Black River High and the weird part is he never dates a girl, while the fact most of the girls were totally head over heels into him. When people asked he just said he’d afraid of the commitment. Masami always teased him about getting a girlfriend so he won’t disturb her. She always said that Masaki was the weirdest famous guy she ever met in her life that was afraid of people, especially girls.
“Well, what to do, I was afraid with the girls since I have you to be the example that girls can be scary,” Masaki said, laugh out loud.
Masami hit his brother’s arm hard.
“Oww, why did you hit me?”
Masami just shrugged and begin eating.
“Dad, aren’t you gonna said anything here?” Masaki asked, looking innocent. Masaki always went to his dad when he feels like it.
Mr. Aiba looked at the twins and then faced Mizukawa-san who was smiling.
“Naoko, could you get the dessert?” Mr. Aiba said instead.
***
“We need to get more information about this,” Masami said, as she was on the phone with Nino in her room after dinner.
“You still get the same dreams?”
“Yeah, and I still don’t understand what it means,”
“Uhh Masami, do you think it got to do with the...” Nino stopped unable to continue.
“It got nothing to do with the accident!” Masami said, sharply.
“But you had been getting those dreams after that right?”
“It just a coincidence okay,”
“I wonder who the blond girl you saw is.” Nino asked, changing the topic.
“I don’t know. Can you asked Jun to crack into the school files. Maybe we can found something there,”
“I’ll talk to him.”
“Hey, I need to use the phone,” the two of them heard Masaki’s voice using the second phone house.
“Okay, hung the phone Masaki!” Masami said and continue to Nino “Call me if you find anything,”
She hung up the phone and walked to the end of her room and leaned at the window, to get the fresh night air. In her hand, there is a picture. She looked at it. She could still remembered vividly about what happened to her last two month, the fatal accident that cause her lose someone so important in her life.
“Why you were the one who drove that night?” that is the same question she kept asking over and over until now. Tears were running down to her cheeks as she looked away into the darkness of the town.
