Chapter 8

 

One of the graveyards had been dug out and the casket inside there had been opened. What made the two of us more terrified was that there was nothing inside the casket. No body, no bones, no cloth. It either the casket is for the new body yet to arrive or it does belong to someone who had been crawl out from the grave.

 

“Nino, did you see what I see?” I stammered.

 

“Yeah, I had a bad feeling about this.” Nino said.

 

“Let’s get out of here.” I said, grabbing Nino’s arm and started to walk out.

 

Suddenly a strong wind blew all over the graveyards from nowhere and this cause us to scream our lungs out. Then both of us saw something that so scary and unimaginable. We stopped screaming as our jaw dropped with surprised.

 

In front of us, stood a skeleton with long black hair still attached to the skull. It had a pair of dark glowing red eyes. Even the skeleton didn’t have the face but we can see the skeleton was not happy and it’s angry. We also realized the skeleton also hold a hoe in his bony hands. 

 

Without any signal, suddenly the skeleton dashed forward toward the teens, swaying the hoe directly to our heads.

 

Nino, who realized what’s happening, quickly pushed me away to the right and then he jumped to the left, avoiding the hoe. The hoe hit the ground and dirt splashed all over the place. The skeleton then picks up its hoe again and moved it to me.

 

“NO!” I screamed and quickly rose to my feet. Nino ran to me, grabbed my hand and both of us sprang away as fast as we could, without daring to look back. We ran through the graves, the statues and keep running until we saw the front gate, ran out from the cemetery, grabbed our bike and cycled away as far as we could.

 

When we thought the distance was safe, both of us stopped their bike. Both of us were panting hard and we also can hear each other the heartbeat of our heart. We were sweating even there was wind blowing breezily.

 

“That was so close,” Nino sputtered.

 

“What was that?” I asked, still panting “It almost kills the two of us!”

 

“I don’t know,” Nino admitted “Its look like a ghost. A killer ghost with revenge I think.”

 

“Nino, I’m scared,” I said “Will it bother us again and does the ghost have something to do with my house?” I asked, not feeling good about what happened earlier and to think about my house have some sort of eerie past also increased the fear.

 

Nino didn’t answer as he also is not so certain.

 

“Should we tell the others?” I asked.

 

“No!” Nino answered “Let it just be the secret between the two of us. I bet they wouldn’t believe us anyway especially Jun.”

I nodded in agreement even though I didn’t think that was a good idea but thinking about what we did just now might be a bit appropriated if we takes thing slowly and one step at a time when both of us calm(to be more exact). I have been chased by a ghost and almost get killed by it. The last thing I ever need is the teasing from Matsujun.

 

“I think we should go home. It’s late,” Nino said, as he looked at his watch.

 

Then the two of us cycled back to the road that leads to our house.
