Chapter 9
Nino accompanied Aiba until the junction lead to the house and then departed to the other road after saying goodbye, cycling to Sho’s house route. He parked the bicycle in the garage and then went in from the kitchen door. Nino had promised Sho to stay over at the his house tonight as Sho’s family are currently out of the country and Sho was afraid of leaving alone in his big house.
“Hi Nino!” Sho greeted, when he open the front door with his brows furrowed with concern “Where have you been? I’ve tried to call you and Aiba, but I can’t get through you”
“I went to the library and got caught up,” Nino lied. He hates to lie, but he cannot tell Sho about where he had been just now.
“You missed dinner but I left you some,” Sho said.
“Sorry I’m late,” Nino apologizes and added “You made dinner? Is it eatable?”
Sho rolled his eyes in disbelief and said “Go and clean yourself and then help yourself to dinner and you will know the fact I can cook!”
“Okay,” Nino said and then headed upstairs. Sho followed him from behind.
When they came up to Sho’s room,
Sho asked again “Where have you been?”
“I went to the library,” Nino lied again “Aiba helps me find a book.”
“But you shirt’s dirty,” Sho said, pointing to the dirt on Nino’s shirt. “Did you do something just now? And if you went to library shouldn’t it would be me you should tag along to ask about book?” Sho asked, suspicious.
Nino looked at the dirt. It must be the dirt from the graveyard when the ghost’s hoe.
“Oh this dirt,” he said as his brain searching for an excuse “I got this when all of us fell off the bike when you and Caely stopped the bike so sudden. Do you remember?”
Sho still looks suspicious.
“Okay,” he said “Why your face looks as pale as you just see a ghost?”
Nino looked himself at the mirror. Sho was right. He does look pale.
“Maybe because I’m hungry,” He said another excuse.
Then Nino quickly grabbed his towel and walked to the bathroom.
“I should take a shower.” He said as quickly as he could so he doesn’t have to lie again and to be more suspicious.
“AHHHH….” Nino yelped silently, “I forgot to tell Aiba about the excuse we’re going to use,” Nino thought “I hope we won’t get busted.” He prayed as he knew Sho would definitely called Aiba to check his fact.
Sho watched Nino until he disappeared into the bathroom. When he heard the water splashing, he went to the phone and dialed Aiba’s number.
During the third rings, someone answered.
“Hello, Aiba-chan!,” he said.
“AH Sho-kun, what’s up?”
“Are you at home now?”
“Ah yea, why?”
“Where have you and Nino been earlier? You guys came back pretty late”
“We went to the library. Nino was looking for a game book and he asked for my opinion which one is better” Aiba lied, praying that Nino also used the same excuse.
“Okay. Sorry for disturbing you, good night and I see you tomorrow at school” Sho said and hung up.

After freshen up, I went downstairs for dinner. When I’m finished, I went up to my bedroom and sat on the bed. The mishap that happened at the cemetery during the evening was unimaginable and scary. I almost got myself with Nino killed by a ghost. I never believed in ghost except they were real in the movies and fantasies book but not in real life, but the event that happened blew all of my theories once and for all forever. Where was it come from?
So many questions were flooding in my mind. The most question that scare the hell out of me is; will the ghost haunt the two of us? Since the ghost already knew and sense us.
I was in deep thought until I didn’t even realize what time I had fell asleep until a sound woke me up. I looked around and grabbed my watch on the table. The time shows 1:30am. What going on? I thought and got up. Then I heard it again. The sound seems to come from downstairs, as if it came from outside the house to be exact.
I walked down the stairs as quietly as possible. The house was quiet as everyone already asleep even Nanako, who usually stay up late most of the nights. The sound had been heard again and it became more audible as I drew nearer the den. The sound sounds like as someone was digging and it came from the yard behind the house. I walked into the kitchen and then went to the window near the back door. I heard the sound again. Whoever was doing the digging sure doesn’t seem to mind the noise he had been making during the hour. I hold the curtain and flipped it open just enough for me to sneak peak at the outside.
At first I didn’t saw anything as my eyes were adjusting the dark.
When I was more focus, then I looked around until my gaze came across someone who made me let out a soft muffle of scream. I close the curtain quickly.
“It was the skeleton!” I thought afraid. “What’s it doing here digging a hole?”
Then I brave myself to sneak peak again. My hand was shaking badly as I hold the curtain. Then I watched the ghost again. The skeleton seems to be busy with the digging, as he didn’t realize he had being watched.
After a brief seconds, suddenly the skeleton stopped digging and turned around, his socket red eyes looked directly at the exact spot where I had been watching. I froze at the moment as I stare at the ghost. Then as I was imagined it, the ghost seems to smile at me and then disappeared in a puff of smoke into the thin air.
