arashic0804: (minaa hands)

It’s all started when I watched the movie called Freedom Writers starring Hilary Swank as Ms. Gruwell and the movie was so good it makes me landed my hand on Freedom Writers Diary book.

As expected, it was full of a journal written by the students of Room 203 themselves along with Ms. G.  Reading their entry makes me think that the problem I’ve been facing everyday seriously was a small matter of life.

How many times the word “Ah my life is so sucks!” “I hate my life!” “Life is so unfair!” escaped from your mouth per day? For me, most of the times, and by the time I read the book it makes me feel a bit of ashamed on how I take life for granted and the life I’ve been living so far, it not even reached the level of hating it!

It amazed me how even we already reached 20th century; racism still is a big thing in America with the Whites against the Black, Asian and Latinos. The worst part was also when I was enjoying my school life, there were kids in that part of the world been shot particularly everyday, hitting on drugs and smokes while the girls being raped and treated as trash.

When here graduation is within our grasp after we finished SPM, for them graduation is not something you can even dream when you are Black, Asian and Latinos. When here at the age of 15, we still didn’t know what Anne Frank Diary is all about, for them the diary itself encouraged them to live life to the fullest.

Freedom Writers Diary is a book contained the diary of students from room 203 with the encouragement of Ms. G, their homeroom teacher talks about their dark daily routines of life that been happening around them. Sometimes the thing written is so dark you cant hardly imagined or believe that the thing still happened within this century.

The diary talks a lot of how they all being down of life, emerging into being someone that can change their life into a dream come true fairy tales. The diary also gave impact and hopes and lightens the dark sight of the world called hopeless.

Again, if you kept thinking your life is worthless, grabbed this book and read because it will show you, your problem is not that big compares to theirs and you have the chances to fix it right! Just like how a teacher and 150 teens used writing to change themselves and the world around them. It is proven pen is mightier than sword!
